The Buckley School Administration Building, a 2 story 1960’s building, was remodeled into a modern school library. The existing build was a maze of offices and typical dropped ceiling tiles. A vaulted wood ceiling was used to relate the timelessness of that form in architecture with a Library’s importance throughout history. The existing columns created a central seating area and anchored the librarians’ information kiosk. Stack areas were consolidated and volumes moved to digital format to allow for ample seating areas. The result was a sophisticated, warm, inviting Middle and Upper School library.
